Project Scope

New Era Energy approached us with requirements for expanding their existing employee carpark and creating a dedicated area for lorry parking. The project needed to accommodate increased vehicle numbers whilst maintaining proper drainage and surface integrity.

The existing parking area was insufficient for their operational needs, and they required professional construction that would handle both light vehicles and heavy commercial traffic without deterioration over time.

Ground Preparation

Extensive Groundworks

The project began with comprehensive groundworks to create stable foundations for both parking areas. We excavated the designated areas to proper depths, removing unsuitable materials and creating level bases for the new surfaces.

Our team conducted thorough site surveys to identify any underground services and drainage requirements. The groundworks included proper sub-base preparation using appropriate aggregate materials, compacted to engineering standards for long-term stability.

Drainage Considerations

Effective drainage was crucial for both the employee parking extension and lorry parking areas. We installed proper drainage systems to prevent water accumulation and surface damage during wet weather conditions.

The eco grid system distributes vehicle loads evenly across the sub-base, preventing rutting and surface damage that can occur with traditional loose surfaces. This creates a professional appearance that maintains its integrity over time.

Shingle Surface Finish

We completed the employee parking area with quality shingle surfacing that provides excellent traction and attractive appearance. The shingle was carefully graded and compacted to create a smooth, level surface suitable for regular vehicle use.

Concrete Slab Construction

The lorry parking area required a robust concrete surface,  capable of supporting heavy commercial vehicles without cracking or settlement. We designed the slab thickness to handle the substantial loads imposed by lorries and other HGV’s.

The completed carpark installation provides New Era Energy with significantly increased parking capacity that meets their operational requirements. The employee parking extension accommodates additional staff vehicles whilst the concrete lorry parking area handles heavy commercial traffic safely.
